Since June, we are proud to be a member of the Ronald Moerings Foundation. This foundation, named after entrepreneur Ronald Moerings, was founded with a noble goal in mind: to support the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek / Netherlands Cancer Institute in their groundbreaking cancer research. Ronald Moerings started an annual initiative in 2014 with a group of “green” entrepreneurs to contribute to this important work. After his unexpected death, his fellow entrepreneurs decided to keep his name connected to this valuable initiative.
But why did we, as Van Nifterik, choose to support the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek? The answer lies in the dedication and ambition of this leading institute. Their aim is to develop a customized treatment for each individual cancer patient. Thanks to their advanced knowledge and technologies, they can already offer personalized therapies on a small scale that target each patient's specific tumor. The goal is to make this approach possible on a large scale, and for this further research and funding is needed.
The Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Foundation emphasizes the importance of contributions such as those from the Ronald Moerings Foundation. Of the total research budget of 80 million euros per year, less than a quarter comes from the government and just over a quarter from KWF. The remaining funding comes from project grants and donations, such as our contribution through the Ronald Moerings Foundation. Every euro we donate goes directly to research and is also tax deductible. In addition, we are updated annually at the institute on the latest developments and spending of the funds.
We invite everyone to participate in this meaningful mission. Together, we can ensure that customized cancer therapy is within reach for all. For more information, visit the Ronald Moerings Foundation website at https://ronaldmoeringsfoundation.nl/. Get involved and make a difference!
